Thank you for your interest in joining MEMO! You will automatically be enrolled in our weekly newsletter if you filled out an interest form at EAF. This is where we will be providing important updates regarding MEMO’s general meetings, socials, inter-chapter events and healthcare-related service opportunities.
General Meetings ⭐️
Mark your calendars! MEMO general meetings start Week 2 and will take place on Thursdays, 5-6PM, every even week of the quarter. To further expand your skills and healthcare knowledge, we will be having interactive hands-on workshops, guest speakers, and more throughout the year!
WHEN: Thursday @ 5PM-6PM (even weeks)
WHERE: Ackerman Union Viewpoint Conference Rooms 1&2 (located on A-level of Ackerman Student Union)

GM #1: Intro to MEMO!
Join us for our first general meeting on Thursday, October 9th (10/9). Come meet the MEMO Board, learn about MEMO’s mission, and see what we have planned for Fall Quarter!

Vitals Training
Interested in learning how to measure blood pressure, blood glucose, and blood cholesterol? Vitals training will be perfect for you! This is a hands-on workshop where you will be trained in how to take essential vitals! This vitals training will be required for those interested in volunteering for our health fairs. One Community (OC) Health Fair
In collaboration with VPASC (Vietnamese Physicians Association of Southern California), MEMO will be hosting our annual health fair, where you can gain hands-on experience working alongside healthcare professionals while making a difference in an underserved community! Sign-ups will be released at a later date, so keep an eye out for additional details!
WHEN: Sunday, October 26th from 9AM-2PM

Other Clinical Opportunities 🏥
These opportunities are not MEMO-affiliated, but we wanted to highlight programs and resources valuable to those interested in gaining additional experience.
UCLA Care Extender Program
The Care Extender Program at UCLA provides a wealth of opportunities for individuals to gain first-hand experience of the health care setting through a clinical perspective. Care Extenders are able to explore the flow and roles of health care providers in different clinical settings, and are trained to assist medical staff in various tasks and procedures. This program allows individuals to gain insight into the vigorous yet rewarding experience of working in health care, which aids them in determining their future career course!
This program is an excellent opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, as it provides maximum exposure to medicine for an undergraduate. Through interaction with patients, health care providers, and visitors, volunteers can not only determine if this career is right for them but also have a profound impact on the hospital community as just an undergraduate student!
